Ewins Cast Iron Umbrella Stand September 12, 2009 NS 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Ewins Cast Iron Umbrella Stand is great. Very solid, sturdy, and great looking. Can move the umbrella anywhere on the patio. Was also sent in a timely manner. Very heavy so shipping does cost, but it's worth it. Thank You.
Great product August 20, 2009 J.C.A. (Knoxville, Tennessee) This is a great product. It arrived very quickly and was exactly what the picture and description showed and said it was. The price was very reasonable also, everywhere else that I looked at similar products they were much more in price.
This stand is fantastic! July 25, 2009 A. Michalik (Santa Monica, CA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
After trying out a variety of stands, we finally found the perfect stand for our freestanding umbrellas. The stand is heavy, which is great with kids standing on the base and swinging around the pole. With other stands we would add 20 pound free weights just to make it safe and keep the whole lot from tipping over in strong winds.
Though I think these stands are fine "as is" for most peoples requirements, we did make some engineering improvements to take the stand to that next level. We added 1 1/2 inch PVC pipe in the tube of the stand as a shim for our sized umbrella pole. Then we drilled through the pipe to insert the threaded knobs that come with the stand. The thing is solid!
This may seem like a lot of work; however, we've owned a couple of different stands and this looks great firstly, offers the sturdiness we need and we plan to keep these for a very long time so we're willing to put in the effort. I'm writing this as I get ready to order a forth stand.
Not heavy enough July 23, 2009 macro mama (California) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Nice looking base might work well inside a patio table but as a stand alone base it is not heavy enough to prevent your umbrella from blowing over. This happened to me within one month of purchase. I still have the base but now I have to buy another umbrella since it blew over and broke. I have another very heavy cast iron base I bought at Target and that umbrella is still up the same day the other one was on the ground. I wish I could find another like that one... I gave it 3 stars because it is nice looking and might work if it is going to be used with an umbrella set into a patio table. However, I would not recommend this for a stand alone umbrella.
Beautiful stand - Poor Construction and Horrible Customer Service April 21, 2009 J. Stout 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
This stand is beautiful to look at, however the screws that secure the umbrella stand are not covered at the end and will damage your umbrella pole. I've tried for weeks to resolve this with Ewins customer service and they finally said they would take it back with a 25% restocking fee. Beware of their horrible return policy and lack of customer dissatisfaction.
